Just Transition in 2025: A Year in Review

Our growing team at JTA shares these highlights of our work from 2025:

We continued building and expanding our training programs, onboarding many new trainers and supporting allies to run our popular education curriculum for themselves.

We organized strong grassroots solidarity within the UN Plastics Treaty negotiations, critiquing the unjust process and blocking false solutions. We remain committed to growing the movement for just transition away from plastics.

We provided critical leadership during the UN Climate Treaty process, resulting in a significant win for just transition and unified pushback against false solutions. We continue this long-term struggle by providing strategic vision for next steps.

We supported the Movimento dos Atingidos por Barragens (Movement of People Affected by Dams) to build momentum for the hugely influential Peoples’ Summit in Brazil. We are very happy to work in solidarity with even more compas in the cross-border struggle for just transition.

We continued to strengthen relationships with our many allies, collaborating on varied campaigns and events, and added numerous new partner organizations as well.

We revamped our vision and mission statements as part of a process of long-term strategic planning. We remain steadfast in our principles, yet also pivot to meet the needs of this moment when there are new opportunities and new threats to the movement for just transition.

We launched the Just Transition Alliance podcast!

We welcomed two wonderful new staff members Sabina Borbon and Catalina de Onís, as well as the great wisdom of new board member Alejandría Lyons.
