Just Transition Alliance showed support for California Assembly Bill (AB) 1857, authored by California Assemblymember Cristina Garcia and co-sponsored by Valley Improvement Projects, East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, Californians Against Waste, and Earthjustice. This past month, we circulated the above postcard in our social media and encouraged direct outreach to Chair and Senator Anthony Portantino. Here was our message in social media:

For decades, California has subsidized toxic waste incinerators to pollute communities of color and the poor. It’s time that state lawmakers spent these public funds on building zero waste facilities that provide thousands of much-needed resource recovery jobs instead.

Help us force the state of California to stop poisoning our communities, and start creating good jobs through zero waste and just transition strategies.
