The Just Transition Alliance is proud to be a part of the “Hoodwinked Collaborative” that published the ground-breaking educational zine Hoodwinked in the Hothouse: Resist False Solutions to Climate Change.  

Together, over the last two years we have printed 47,000 copies of Hoodwinked in 5 languages, distributing over 20,000 copies to grassroots groups as well as 6,000 at COP 26 and COP 27. We produced an audiobook and hosted 6 widely-attended webinars for organizers and educators. These efforts have widened opposition to corporate climate schemes – over 700 civil society groups signed  the Real Solutions, Not Net Zero platform at COP 26,  forcing a UNFCCC Secretariat response to civil society critique of greenwashing mechanisms at COP 27.

This month, many members of the Collaborative are participating in an Earth Month Convergence hosted by Start:Empowerment and The New School. This series of dialogues seeks to redefine Earth Day away from the corporate greenwashing that has dominated it recently and back to its original message of urgent collective action to change the ways we live, work, and make decisions together, in order to to fight for environmental justice and honor the air, water, and land that give us life. A collection of diverse presentations will take place on the weekend of April 22-23, but our special Instagram Live broadcast “Imagining + Creating Decolonial Climate Futures,” focused on dialogue between indigenous youth organizers fighting false solutions in their homelands, will take place on Tuesday, April 18 at 3PT/6ET.  Follow Hoodwinked on Instagram!
