On Tuesday, Oct. 25, the Just Transition Alliance was proud to co-sponsor a celebration of Rachel Carson’s groundbreaking book #SilentSpring. Hosted by Real Food Media and Friends of the Earth, U.S., with support from dozens of cosponsors and included the voices of Anna Lappé of Real Food Media, Patti Naylor of Family Farm Coalition, Kendra Klein of Friends of the Earth, and investigative journalist Carey Gillam who talked about where we’ve come in the 60 years since Carson’s book was published, and where we’re headed. Carson’s work gave birth to the Environmental Protection Agency, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and sparked the ban on the toxic insecticide DDT.
