About JTA:

Since 1997, JTA has played a historic role in grounding the concept of just transition in the environmental and economic justice movement and in forming the climate justice movement in the US. Together with frontline workers and community members who live along the fencelines of polluting industries, we create healthy workplaces and communities. JTA provides organizing and educational support to workers, Indigenous Peoples, people of color, and low-income communities facing the worst impacts of climate change and toxic exposure on the local, national, and international levels. We provide thought leadership and principled practice in our work to create regenerative zero waste economies, promote healthy local food solutions, train community organizers on just transition, and democratize United Nations spaces. JTA’s dedication to labor and human rights has cultivated our unique, vibrant and caring culture.

Position Summary:

The Communications and Training Associate will utilize diverse skills in writing, media relations, graphic design, and website design to develop JTA’s outreach capacity and communications strategy internally and as part of external alliances. The Associate will also organize training events and coordinate logistics with partner organizations using Just Transition education materials, work with our Popular Education and Program Coordinators to help edit and adapt new curriculum language, and collect and record data from training participants through surveys and evaluation forms.  JTA seeks an experienced, flexible, and well-rounded team member with both traditional communications skills and organizing skills to network with media and to navigate complex, diverse spaces within the environmental justice and labor movements.
